The AD Concert Band
The AD Concert Band was formed in 1975 by The late Arthur Doyle on his retirement as
principle Tuba of the CBSO. Originally a youth Band it has now developed into The
Premier Concert Band in the West Midlands. Rehearsals take place at Alderbrook School on
Wednesday evenings between 8pm and 10pm. Further details can be obtained from the

Birmingham Concert Band
Probably the oldest established concert/military band in the area, we
give 3/4 concerts of a varied repertoire in the Solihull area annually

Hampton Singers was formed in 1980 as a community activity. A choir of

Harmonie Concert Band
Harmonie is a Solihull wind band with a long and successful history
of providing the opportunity for players to rehearse and perform
concerts. We have no age restrictions or entry requirements - everyone
is welcome.
There are some 45 members and we provide facilities to try out some of
the band's own instruments. We meet every Wednesday from 8 p.m. until
10 p.m. at Langley Secondary School, Solihull.
We take part in several concerts each year and often with local schools
involvement. The band also commissions works and engages top
professionals to conduct workshops to improve playing skills. The type
of music we play ranges from popular classics and show medleys to
challenging new compositions.

Heart of England Singers
Mixed choir of some 65 people singing music from Bach to the Beatles at approx. 4 concerts
a year at venues from Solihull to east side of Birmingham. We have just celebrated our
Silver Jubilee, we rehearse at the Free Baptist Church, Land Lane, (A-Z ref: 1H93) on
Monday evenings 7.30pm -9,30p.m.to coincide with educational terms. We are twinned with a
choir in Germany, Stadtkantorei, Barsinghausen, Nr Hanover and the Horsforth Choral
Society, nr Leeds: we visit both. We have an open door policy for new members with
enthusiasm and a broad repertoire ranging from Bach to the Beatles. There are at least
five concerts a year and our next is at Christ Church, Solihull Sat 24th November -
Brahm's German Requiem.

Shirley Pipe Band

The Band was formed in 1962 when it evolved from an established Scout Drum and Bugle Band
to specialise in the Great Highland Bagpipe.
The band flourishes through the long term commitment of its members. Some have remained in
the band since its creation and are joined by their sons and daughters. Further members
have been recruited locally, or have joined from the scout group. We have a busy training
schedule, there normally being up to ten people learning bagpipes or drums at any time. If

The Society, under its Music Director - Andrew Fletcher - is delighted to welcome new

Solihull Theatretrain
Solihull Theatretrain is a performing arts school for 6-18 year olds.
There are 3 age groups, 6-9, 9-12 and 13-18. Theatretrain have an open
door policy for all children so ability is not essential. Every one
takes part in an hour of singing, an hour of dance and an hour of drama.
Enthusiasm, commitment and having fun are a priority. All pupils take
part in a show either locally or in the West End. The School opens on
