We went to the sunday buffet on 17 May. It was packed, and the staff
found a table for us straight away even though we didnt book. There was
a large selections of lovely food including my favourite, peking duck.
Food great, service was quick and efficient and good value for money.
The new management team really impressed me.

Dropped in saturday lunch when shopping locally. The
young waiter while stood in his anorak wasn't impressed to receive our
custom. No friendly welcome , order was rushed as we interrupted staff
lunch time. Curry sauce hot, meat in it very cold. They couldn't wait to
get us out not one word spoken to us during our visit...customer service
skills a MUST

This is a cracking little gem. Its been going for 40
years. Same owners as well which is a rarity these days. They are
holding a special night to celebrate its 40th anniversary on 7 May-
complete with DJ, surprise gift etc. I will be definitely be
booking.....

Shirley Temple is fantastic! I took my fiance there for a surprise meal,
and it met all my expectations and more. The sizzling beef was perfect,
and the duck which I understand is a speciality was fabulous. The
service was very good- efficient without too much fuss. It was good
value for money too as its certainly better than some of the other
chinese restaurants in this area.

Went for a meal here and although locals I have not been here for years.
Food was lovely but have never served by such a group of sour faced
staff and service was awful. Will not go back unless they improve their
service.

I went to the Shirley Temple on valentines day as well and it was
superb. The food and wine was great and the service was great. We turned
up late and they kept our table and and when my husband spilled his soup
all over the floor, it was mopped up with minimum fuss and a smile.
Favourite: Sweet and Sour pork

Went here on Valentines night and extremely disappointed. Service was
appalling and a case of 'hurry up we need your table'. Food was OK but
overpriced. I could go on but wont waste my time when there are so many
welcoming & attentive restaurants out there.

What a stroke of luck. I haven't been to the Shirley Temple in ages. We
popped in with some friends on Friday and guess what.... a free bottle
of wine with our food. More than drinkable too! We should be
supporting our local restaurants, when the food is as good as as at the
Shirley Temple it makes it easy!

We first went here in 74 and
it's still run by the same people, that must say something about it's
success. Try the sizziling menu for fun. Out of 8 main courses only the
Prawn dish had zero flavour, the one negative I can think of.

Great local chinese restaurant. I went for the sunday buffet after
hearing about the recent improvements. Lots of choice, and loads of
yummy food. Not the cheapest of buffets but you pay for the quality.
Have just booked for next week

Wow! The duck, the fish the wine. You don't find this sort of quality in
Solihull usually. We are tired of bland chain restaurants usually served
up round here. The Shirley temple is such a refreshing change

We went for the Sunday buffet special and were confronted with a very
small selection of average quality dishes in a slightly grubby and
rundown eating area. The staff were inattentive and not very friendly.
We won't be back.

I came to the Shirley Temple to celebrate after winning "Roll Idol

very convenient and the whole experience was wonderful. Keep it up

As an incentive for my hard working gals at the local nail bar, I
treated my staff and partner to a night out at the Shirley Temple. We
all had a fantastic time and the only hic-up occoured when one of our
guests (Martin)dropped his ice cream on the floor! The waiters were
fabulous and cleared up the mess with happy smiles on their faces! I
can't wait until I return

I work at the Fancy Fish Bar. I like to eat at Wagamama's usually but
when i play my harmonica they throw me out. I came to the Shirley Temple
after a recommendation from Jill Ireland. Really liked it. Nicer than a
masala fish in a nan.

Though I do not live in the area, for the past 20 year or so, every
time I visit Birmingham I always make sure I visit this restaurant. I
would recommend their crispy duck to anyone. One of the best in the
country.

I'm surprised by the other comments as the whole event seemed to
very average. The menu is un-inspired, the food was reasonable but dull,
the place is looking a bit grubby inside, especially the toilets. Would
bother going again

Very good food, but alas, like many Chinese restaurants, the service can
come across as clinical, albeit efficient.

Lovely meal, great place, me and and a few mates went on one of the Sunday Special'. And I
also took my girlfriend there recently one Friday night. Great!

A few friends and I tried this out one Sunday, as a great lover of Chinese food I loved it
and so did my friends, some of whom weren't bothered about Chinese before but liked it
after the lovely meal we had.
